Because we share one office and resources communication is much improved and we all understand the needs of each discipline. This results in an improved design product for the client with less problems during design and implementation.
Bauer Consult can offer a full range of structural design services including feasibility studies, sketch scheme designs, scheme designs, detail design, evaluation of existing designs and redesign. All calculations and bending schedules are fully documented and produced on spreadsheets. In planning areas these are required for council submission. Full council submissions can also be made including all necessary drawings, calculations and forms.
Bauer Consult can offer design services ranging from structural design for elements of a building designed by an architect to full building design. Keeping construction costs low is often a key requirement, especially for property developers. I have carried out design for several minimal cost industrial developments including one using a clients existing steel frame with slight modifications to keep costs to a minimum while ensuring all design standards were met. For industrial projects the engineer may well be the lead consultant and I have been employed on this basis.
Single storey residential buildings are often designed to deemed to satisfy rules by an architect or other consultant. In this case a structural engineer is not required unless there is some doubt about the suitability of the founding soil. Buildings of two storeys or more will require a structural engineer at least for the design of the suspended floor slabs and staircase and possibly for the foundations as well.
