BACKGROUND

Bauer Consult was set up in October 1998. It shares an office with Motheo (pty.) Ltd., a citizen owned building design and engineering company. We are both professionals working in the construction industry and share work and resources. As a result we are able to provide either a full building project design and management service or the services relevant to our disciplines. We also have links with other consultants who we employ on a regular basis for surveying, quantity surveying, and site monitoring work.

STAFF

The office has a highly capable administrator in the form of Marcus Rabasima. We also regularly take students from the University of Botswana and other institutions of higher learning for work experience. Our latest trainee is Mpho Maila who is studying at Port Elizabeth.

FACILITIES

• Computer system - Three computers on one network with internet, e-mail and fax connection.
• Software - Windows, Microsoft Office, Autocad LT 2000, Energy Plus. All drawing work is done using Autocad LT 2000 and calculations and bending schedules are produced using spreadsheets so alternative designs can be quickly investigated. Additional data such as reinforcement weights can easily be produced from bending schedules.
• Scanner, Printer and A1 Plotter.
• Photocopier and fax machine.
• Vehicle - Toyota Corolla.

Bauer Consult has full Professional Indemnity insurance cover with Botswana Insurance Company Limited.

• Alternative materials – I have worked on projects using cement stabilised earth blocks, earth and cowdung floors, as well as other natural materials.
• Computer literate - As part of my work I make extensive use of computers for analysis, design, drawing, word processing, and communication.
